Prelude to the Winter Uprising: Decimation X and Decimation X3

In anticipation of the upcoming Indie Game Winter Uprising, xIndies will be looking at some of the quality games that are, essentially, a prelude to many of the titles being brought to you this December. For more information about the Uprising, visit http://www.indiegames-uprising.com/. Xona Games will be releasing Decimation X3 during this event.

With the graphical appeal of games such as Geometry Wars and a pumped-up, modern take on classics like Space Invaders, Xona Games' Decimation X was a welcome addition to the Indie Games service at the beginning of this year. Featuring pulsing music, the addition of power ups, up to four person multiplayer, and the uncontrollable desire to beat your top score, this shooter was, and still is, a must own indie game. Priced at only 80 msp, Decimation X should not be missed. Decimation X3, Xona Games' upcoming release, is still a mystery as little information has been released about the game other than the dollar price and expected release date. Hit the jump for gameplay video of the original game and more.

Xona Games described their original Decimation X as a "1-4 player intense retro shmup. Classic 2D fixed gallery shooter. Features: Insane firepower, progressive defences, tons of power-ups. Smooth 60 frames per second, pure arcade action." As seen in the video or if you've played the title, the intensity shows. While the first game is most definitely worth the dollar, I'm curious to see what Decimation X3 brings to the table. Described as "The thrilling sequel to one of the most popular shooters on the service features insane firepower and pure arcade action," one must wonder what more Xona can add to the game. With it's announced release date being December 7th, 2010 and that it will be priced at 80 msp as well, I'm excited for the new release.

  1. This article really comes off as Decimation X, not Decimation X3, beging a part of IGWU. You can use the box art to Decimation X3 here if you wish: http://xona.com/decimationx3/ as well I would create a different feel of the article. We appreciate the coverage!
